The National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCCBM) is a government
of India organization, dedicated to continuous research, technology development
and transfer, education and industrial services for the cement and building
materials industries. It had been appointed as consultant to carry out
technical audit and quality assurance of earthquake reconstruction program in
Gujarat. NCCBM is engaged in Plant Construction Supervision, Geological
Exploration, Raw Materials Investigation, Limestone Consumption Factor, Raw Mix
Design, Establishing Causes of Coating and Build-up, Refractory Engineering and
Management, Energy Conservation, Laboratory Certification, Concrete Mix Design,
Diagnostic Studies for Distressed Structures, Structural Design, Detailing
& Evaluation, architectural Planning and much more.
The Confront
A complete Management Information System (MIS) has been designed for NCCBM to
conduct the Audit of earthquake-affected sites across the state of Gujarat. A
statewide network had to be developed by VBSOFT India for NCCBM to conduct the
audit of the houses being reconstructed as per the guidelines of GSDMA (Gujarat
State Disaster Management Authority). NCCBM along with VBSOFT India has evolved
a unique audit system, which takes care of the Indian Bureau of Standards and
GSDMA guidelines and extends an enormous support towards establishing the
discrepancies or inadequacies in the construction and remedial actions as well.
The Solution
The VBSOFT team performed the detailed requirement analysis and developed a
business intelligence system built on Microsoft SQL ServerT 2000 and Microsoft
SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services, that keeps track of each and every activity
or phases of construction and the evaluation of the process is done with an
indigenously designed technology, the system tracks activity of every
individual house being constructed. The solution is deployed at district and
the village levels, and proffers the following:
